Syria after all?

Dutch authorities investigate a Syrian man who has been in contact with four suspects of the Van Gogh murder.
Justice authorities allege the Syrian is the axis of several terrorist cells believed to be active in the Netherlands. Besides the Van Gogh murder, the man is also accused of two other crimes.
If the presence of actual terrorist cells proves to be true, the left can no longer hide behind a desire to have a dialogue with the Muslim community in the Netherlands. It is an inconsistent view in the first place: the left tries to accuse the right of racism while singling out the Muslim community for dialogue themselves. While all the evidence points toward the theory that terrorist cells operate without support of or interaction with the actual Muslim community.
No further links have been established, but I sort of hope that there will be some more, hopefully linking to terrorist movements present in Syria itself. A foreign source of terrorism by an already suspicious country would be easier to deal with than terrorism that appears in Europe out of the blue. It would also help distinguishing between radical extremists and European Muslims.

Van Gogh slaughtered. Arson attempts on mosques. A Muslim school bombed. An arson attempt at a church.
I want my Second Amendment rights!

Inspired by my previous post, I wrote a poem on terrorism in the Netherlands. It does not happen often I feel like writing in Dutch, but I feel I can reach the target audience better this way. Een gedicht over Theo van Gogh, terrorisme, wij en zij. Feel free to copy/paste it on your blog or MSN.

Politics

Readers of my blog not used to having political views on here: for a long time I have been able to express my political views on Simply American, but recent events abrupted that option. I respect the view that some readers don't want to read about politics and that, with the US leading the war on terror, SA was the appropriate outlet.
But it would be foolish of me to continue such a policy now that murder and threats in the name of jihad take place in my home country.
I feel like I need to express my anger with terrorism as much as possible. I'm outraged that some people take the van Gogh murders as a reason to use explosives on Islamic schools which happened in Eindhoven this morning. To prevent such blind hatred, it's important that I continue to advocate a strong war on terrorism and make it very clear that terrorism is destroying all of us, both Islam and non-Islam. We must all fight it together. "You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists" holds up in the Netherlands as well. To single out the terrorists and destroy them is our best ticket to restore unity. Dutch Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, secularists.. together against terrorism. United we stand.

We need more than police

Terrorists declared jihad on the Netherlands. Wake up government, we are at war.
Dutch police now believe that the muder of film maker Theo van Gogh is part of a larger and coordinated action by radical Muslims to public figures that they feel are 'enemies of Islam.' As a result, Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Geert Wilders, two politicians critical of Muslims, have been taken to a safe house by Dutch police.
Death threats were made by terrorists against Ms. Hirsi Ali, a former Muslim from Somalia who has been critical of Islam and Mr. Wilders who is a vocal opponent of Turkey's proposed membership in the European Union. The threats were made via telephone calls and on a five page letter attached to van Gogh's body by a knife.
The note claimed that Holland was controlled by Jews and called for Muslims to make jihad or holy war against infidels such as the Netherlands, the United States and specifically against Ms. Hirsi Ali. To her, it read, 'Since you stepped into the political arena in the Netherlands you have been constantly busy terrorising Muslims and Islam with your remarks. With your apostasy you have turned your back on truth and you are marching with the ranks of evil.'
The letter shocked many prominent politicians and government officials in Holland. Dutch Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner said, 'It is worrying because it gives the impression that it is not the message of an individual, but a wider organization.'
