Rape and carmageddon in Eindhoven

Sports

Yay Feyenoord!

I'm not quite sure I can continue to support PSV now that they are signing Patrick "I'll rape anything I haven't yet run over with my car" Kluivert, so I might as well defect to the local football team in Rotterdam even though they hardly ever win anything. While rumours were denied on Monday, today all the headlines indicate a deal after all. Meh. Why sign a 30-year-old over-the-top loser who will be thoroughly hated by the fans?

If it weren't for Inge I'd boycott Eindhoven for as long as this tosser walks around there.

On the bright side, PSV is also attempting to sign Jan Kromkamp and Amr Zaki, while attempting to get Kevin Hofland to return to Eindhoven. Those players are very welcome, of course.

We are the champions, my friend.. And we didn't even need a win because rival AZ lost against Ajax. Good thing I didn't stay in Eindhoven for the party though, it would have been somewhat disappointing after a draw. Nonetheless: PSV wins the Dutch league. Yay!

Willem II 0 - PSV Eindhoven 3

Sports

Yay for my team! Once again I did not actually see the match (blame my social life), but we're now only four points away from the championship with four more matches to be played. And if AZ and Feyenoord lose any points tomorrow we might just bag it next week!

Ajax Amsterdam 0 - PSV Eindhoven 0

Sports

PSV lost two valuable points against Ajax last night, but fortunately Feyenoord also didn't accomplish more than a tie today. Still seven points ahead then with only six more matches to go. League championship shouldn't be a problem!

AZ Alkmaar 1 - PSV Eindhoven 2

Sports

Due to my day out I didn't actually see the premier league games today but PSV extended their lead by beating AZ (now 11 points behind) while Feyenoord lost two important points with a one all tie in and against Groningen. The Rotterdam squad is now trailing Eindhoven by seven points with eight more games to be played.

Sparta Rotterdam 3 - Willem II Tilburg 2

Sports

Superbly played by the Rotterdam side even though they should've converted more chances to secure the win way earlier than the 85th minute. A win despite a last minute goal against, putting Sparta clear of the competition and relatively safe. Good chance the team won't have to play the relegation playoffs! And with Excelsior still doing well in the 1st division there's might just be three Rotterdam teams in the premier league again next season.

Wicked. And time for another Irish coffee!

Vitesse Arnhem 1 - PSV Eindhoven 3

Sports

I can't say PSV played a good game, I honestly can't. But just a couple of chances in 90 minutes was all my team needed to get a result and stay clear of both Feyenoord and AZ. But an equaliser by Farfan and two late goals (Lamey and Farfan) decided the game and PSV stays favourite for the title while also in the race for both the cup and Champions League. Home game for the latter prize against French Olympique Lyon.

De Graafschap 0 - PSV Eindhoven 1 (64')

Sports

PSV broke the 1971 Ajax record for longest streak of not conceding a goal in the Dutch league: 1083 minutes (and counting). We're currently leading by one goal (Alex, 20') and looking for our twelfth consecutive shutout. Assuming that win, our balance almost halfway the season: fifteen games played, thirteen wins, two draws, no losses.

(Make that leading by 0-2, van Bommel just scored a penalty.)

Here's a list of the games that made up the record-breaking streak. Not sure if the numbers add up actually, not sure if injury times counts and all that.

8/28: PSV @ NAC Breda 2-2 (no goal conceded the last 40')
9/11: RKC Waalwijk @ PSV 0-1
9/18: PSV @ NEC 3-0
9/25: SC Heerenveen @ PSV 0-4
10/2: FC Groningen @ PSV 0-3
10/16: PSV @ ADO Den Haag 2-0 (only 70' played due to disturbances)
10/24: Ajax @ PSV 0-2
10/29: PSV @ FC Utrecht 0-0
11/7: PSV @ FC Den Bosch 3-0
11/13: Willem II @ PSV 0-1
11/21: PSV @ Vitesse 2-0
11/27: FC Twente @ PSV 0-2
12/4: PSV @ De Graafschap 2-0 (after 66')

Update: final score tonight: 4-0.

PSV 2 - Twente 0

Sports

Eleven consecutive league games without a goal conceded. Sixty-three minutes away from breaking Ajax's 1971 all-time shutout record, with an easy game at De Graafschap scheduled. A Champions League second round qualification bagged before Thanksgiving. Five points ahead in the league of runner up AZ and a smashing ten respectively eleven points lead versus Ajax and Feyenoord. PSV is zooming!

By the way, while the media has been going wild reporting the "crisis" at Ajax, it looks like Ronald Koeman isn't the one with biggest problems. Ruud Gullit and his team from Rotterdam are: Feyenoord is actually doing worse in the league than Ajax at the moment.
