Copenhagen, Pinboys, drunk
- Posted by Rob (#1) on May 20, 2006 01:55 CEST
Warning: this will not be the most elaborate journal update ever. International GPRS is expensive.
But.. Copenhagen is great. Pinboys were awesome. I'm drunk and so is Kirsten (way way more) but I'm not supposed to make fun of that. Good night!

It's only nine pm and already my body contains a pint of beer, cider and two double Irish coffee, while I yet have to party in The Hague. But no, I'm not am alcoholic. I just like the word double.
Note to girlfriend: let's not be emo and just go for it. See you tomorrow?

I did it my way..

"One pint to celebrate a nice day spent with my girlfriend."
Sure. In the real world that means staying at the pub talking, dancing and drinking until Frank Sinatra announcing closing time. Refusing fun would be a bad character trade wouldn't it? Fortunately cider doesn't quite make me feel as drunk as beer would after a similar amount of pints so I should have no problem waking up in the morning!

Drunk again!
- Posted by Rob (#1) on February 17, 2006 23:46 CET
I'm drunk once again but enjoying it. In fact I am doing quite fine because I fancy my new-found addiction of being able to work on my web site at the pub.
I am however waiting for a reply by Neil because he normally seems interested in the social consequenses of such a capability, sometimes even in the technical implementation. Come on mate, give me some feedback! Desktop computers are a thing of the past, handhelds will rule the world! Even if some skills in T9 are required.

Adults, beer and clubbing

A third of pubs will be open longer under new British legislation. Wonderful. I hate curfews for adults and would totally love to hang out longer whenever I'm in London.
People worry about under-age drinking, but longer opening times have no influence on that particular problem, strict ID enforcement does. People also worry about drink-related disorder, but well-behaving drinkers (even binge drinkers) should not suffer from the chavs and other losers who can't keep their cool. I have no problem with more blue on the street paid for by the extra tax income wider opening times might provide.
"What we're actually seeing is that at last in this country adults are going to be treated like grown-ups and given a little bit of choice about having a social life beyond 11 o'clock at night."
Well said, Mark Hastings from the British Beer and Pub Association.
